"Cass Bird’s photographs are instantly recognizable: her subjects always look mischievous, and like they are having just a little too much fun. Whether it’s a teenage model, her own children or the actor Viggo Mortensen (whom she photographed for the cover of T Magazine), Bird consistently manages to get the people she shoots to let their guard down so that the images ultimately reflect an integral part of her own personality: the hyperactive goofball. In her work for the Gap, Wrangler, Urban Outfitters and numerous magazines, Bird’s aesthetic is best described as “young, carefree, loving life and you’re so jealous,” and her influence radiates throughout popular photography."
